Virginia is a medium sized school located in the Metropolitan Region. From a small beginning in 1920 with 135 pupils, we now have approximately 480 students attending.
Our school has more than 23 general learning areas. All classrooms are air conditioned, have digital projectors/interactive whiteboards and access to networked technology.
We have an outside school hours care (OSHC) program run by YMCA. A new building was opened in May 2013 to cater for 121 students each day. Vacation Care is also provided during school holidays.
Spread over 5.8 hectares, our school boasts large shade trees, 2 ovals, 2 tennis courts and a heated swimming pool. An active swim club offers learn to swim, stroke correction, squad training and adult classes. Friday night is club night. The swim season operates during terms 1 and 4. The pool was fully heated in 2013.
As a school of excellence in music, Virginia has won many awards with the concert band and choirs performing at numerous community events including the music tour of south-east Queensland schools in November each year. Our school also has an international education program hosting Japanese students throughout the year.
