The Prep Program at Virginia
State School is a full time program. Children attend Monday – Friday from 8:45am to 3:00pm.
Children must turn five
by 30 June in the year they commence Prep.

To enrol your child at Virginia State School follow these easy steps:
Step 1 - Catchment area check

If you reside out of the Virginia State School catchment please follow the instructions for an out of catchment waitlist position.
Step 2 - Enrolment application
Complete the application for student enrolment form (PDF, 4.38MB) for each child. This may be downloaded or enrolment packs collected from the school office.
Complete all permission forms for each child:
When submitting the enrolment paperwork at Virginia State School all students must have:
- A birth certificate or registration of birth or passport. Original to be sighted by the office.
- Evidence of any medical conditions of which the school needs to be aware.
- Any official documentation relating to custody or family issues of which the school needs to be aware.
- Details of any specialist care given, e.g. speech therapy.
- Proof of residency/citizenship status and visa (if from overseas).
Step 3 - Enrolment interview
The school will send out an email to all enrolled students to make an appointment for an enrolment interview with a member of our Administration team in early August 2026.
Parents then attend the interview at the school with your child or children. Also bring along each child's birth certificate, and any other information you may think is relevant e.g. medical reports, official custody or family that has not already been provided to the school.

2027 In Catchment Enrolment Form
Families will then be added to a database and notified for all upcoming Prep 2027 events.
Out of Catchment Enrolments
The Prep 2027 Virginia State School out of catchment waitlist link will open on Tuesday 21 April 2026 at midday. Out-of-catchment students applying for enrolment at the school are placed on a waiting list and processed in order of receipt.

Once you have registered, the enrolment officer will send through a confirmation email to let you know your waitlist position. Please allow 24 – 48 hours to receive this email before following up with the school.
Offers for out of catchment placements will not be offered until Term 4, once it is determined whether the school has the capacity to accept any out of catchment enrolments.
